Escritora inglesa. Escribiu a colección de literatura fantástica infantil-xuvenil protagonizada por Harry Potter, en que mestura motivos clásicos da literatura infantil con elementos propios do xénero fantástico e alusións á mitoloxía de culturas tan diversas coma a grega, a céltica ou a xaponesa. Está composta por Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (1997), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2000), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2003) e Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2005). Recibiu o Premio Príncipe de Asturias da Concordia (2003).
